    Description: A classic churrascaria, this chain is known to be the best in the city. The atmosphere, though a bit upscale, is also very relaxed and the restaurant is a place where friends and family come together to enjoy one of Brazil's finest attributes, its meat.

    Arguably the best cuts of meat in Rio, served in a rodizio style, where waiters circulate with 28 various cuts ranging from superb steak cuts to lamb and something in between that you may not want to identify. Unlike an ordinary (by Rio de Janeiro’s reality) rodizio style barbecue restaurant, Porcão has everything a human being can imagine eating, including wild boars, African chicken (those birds that you never imagined belonged to the chicken family), shark meat, ostrich and frog legs. Don't feel obliged to accept a piece of everything, but do be adventurous and try as much as you can.

    There is also a fantastic buffet where you can help yourself to unlimited side dishes of sushi, seafood and salads to accompany your feast. The price of the Rodizio meal is R$53.90 per person. One nice location is Porcāo Rio’s, at Aterro do Flamengo, which is arguably one of Rio’s most scenic restaurants. Try not to drop your piece of “picanha” while gazing at the “Pão de Açúcar” (Sugar Loaf). It is said that no man has ever tried all the food Porcão Rio’s offers...and you’ll understand why. Expensive, but worth the visit. Porcão Rio's is not reachable by public transportation.

    Insider Tips: On weekends, lines are usually quite long but don’t let that be a deterrent as you are welcomed with hors d’oeuvres while you wait. There is also a playroom for the kids. Once you’re in, you’ll realize what all the waiting was for. The red/green card on your table is exactly what you might think it is: a stop-go indication. Green is a signal to bring on the meat, while red means you need a break or have had enough. Don't feel obliged to go overboard though - you won’t lose face for flipping to red - we promise!!
