PARIS - Seventy-two French, 58 Brazilians, and 26 Germans were among the 228 people of 32 different nationalities on an Air France jet missing over the Atlantic, the airline said Tuesday.
The figures were revised slightly from a prior estimate on Monday. Air France chief executive Pierre-Henri Gourgeon said the variations were due to some passengers who have double nationality.
Among the missing were many businessmen, musicians and a young heir to Brazil's long-defunct monarchy, Pedro Luiz de Orleans e Braganca.
Three people with French tyremaker Michelin were on the flight: Luiz Roberto Anastacio, president for Latin America; Antonio Gueiros, its computer systems chief in Rio and Christine Pieraerts of France, company spokeswoman Monica Batelli said. Three executives with Brazil's oil giant Petrobras also were aboard.
Also on the AF 447 flight were composer-conductor Silvio Barbato, and singer Juliana de Aquino.
The latest list provided by Air France said the following people were on the Rio de Janeiro-Paris flight:
72 French (11 crew and 61 passengers), 59 Brazilians (1 crew and 58 passengers), 26 Germans, 9 Chinese, 9 Italians, 6 Swiss, 5 British, 5 Lebanese, 4 Hungarians, 3 Irish, 3 Norwegians, 3 Slovaks, 2 Americans, 2 Moroccans, 2 Poles, 1 Argentine, 1 Austrian, 1 Belgian, 1 Canadian, 1 Croatian, 1 Danish, 1 Dutch, 1 Estonian, 1 Filipino, 1 Gambian, 1 Icelandic, 1 Romanian, 1 Russian, 1 South African, 1 Swedish, 1 Turkish.
